Settled in the grounds of Paynes Prairie, a bustling ecosystem in Gainesville, FL with hundreds of plant and wildlife species, an educational facility serves to coexist with the landscape
As a means of utilizing the surroundings within the environment, the facility maintains three research pavilions, one for hydrological studies, one for archaeological findings, and one for apiology practices, all of which, utilize the immediate landscape and the facilities for prolonged research opportunities.
Due to the Prairie's delicate ecosystem and the want to minimalize impact to the landscape, methods of construction were considered. All three pavilions are made from wood and sit above the ground at various heights to preserve the landscape and to prevent flooding of the pavilions. Considerations for shading, water drainage, and sightlines were utilized.
